"As a result of good teaching, pupils learn quickly and can apply their skills across all subjects."

- 'Good' Ofsted Report 2023 - Moorside Primary School and Nursery

Welcome from our Headteacher

We are a friendly Community Primary School and Nursery in the city of Ripon.  Our school serves a unique and diverse community and the educational experiences that we offer our children are therefore unique. Learning is built on the foundations of nurture.   In our environment, where children feel safe and happy, they succeed, achieve and thrive.

We believe that every child is special and that all children can succeed given the opportunity.  Our staff are committed to ensuring our pupils receive quality teaching and the best care, guidance and support. We have high expectations for what the future holds for all our children and indeed this begins at our school where ‘the sky is the limit’.

Our curriculum is designed to meet the needs of all our pupils, using the rich opportunities in our local area as well as extending their knowledge and understanding of the wider world and culture through our foundation subjects.  Our intent is that all children have extensive learning opportunities with specialist teachers through Forest Schools and outdoor learning, Sport and Competitions, Nurture and the Arts.  We welcome visiting specialists and plan educational visits to enhance and enrich children’s learning

To broaden our children’s learning experiences further, we offer a range of cross curricular clubs and activities after school, as well as wrap around care through our Moorside Buddies Club, which is open from 7.45am until 5.30pm.

We strongly believe that education is a partnership between home and school and a close working relationship is vital to maximise the outcomes for our children.  Our staff team are friendly and welcoming.  If you need to discuss any aspect of your child’s education or well- being, please do not hesitate to contact us. We welcome interest from prospective parents and are happy for you to visit the school at any time.
